Bottom Stringer Question

Post by mhcrowder »

Finally getting to the bottom stringer installation. The builder's manual calls for
"The forward end of the stringer tube will need to be flattened against the fuselage bottom/first bushing; otherwise it will interfere with the top of nose gear leg."
Since we're currently going with a nose wheel ( yea I know! ), my build partner and I are trying to understand the interference piece. We just don't see how the bottom stringer will interfere with the "top of the nose gear leg". Maybe we're just missing something.

Any insight? Pictures?

Michael,
I am one of those "other guys"
too. I built Lima Charlie as a
trike, as well.

I don't remember that from
my build, but I will look in
that area tomorrow morning
to see if I can help.

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

We have had a death in the family.

It may be a few days before I can
make it to the hangar.

Sorry.

I looked on the inside tonight, but I forgot to
look on the outside. I think the biggest thing
is to make sure the stringer is above the
firewall frame so it does not protrude after
covering.

I will look at the outside in relation to the
nose gear mount tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay again.

I don't see anyway that the stringer
and it's spigot could interfere with
the nose gear bracket. I would have
to assume that the description is in regards
to an earlier design, and perhaps it has
been corrected on the airframe, but the
old comments remain in the manual.

Thanks for looking. That is what we figured. We just couldn't find any interference issues. Bottom Stringer is now installed and we're moving on.

Thanks Again,
