Re: 0-200
The February 2013 issue of the Experimenter had an interesting tidbit. Bob Barrows, longtime engine builder and designer of the Bearhawk and Bearhawk Patrol, powered the Bearhawk LSA with an interesting alternative to the O-200. In a C-85-8 case, he used an O-200 crank, which is 1/4" longer stroke than the C-85, plus O-200 cylinders and an O-200 cam. That resulted in about 8.8:1 compression and the ability to use 93 octane mogas. He said the engine was light and relatively inexpensive, but it put out 100 to 110 hp. I'm sure he uses other tweaks to make it work. Still, it sounded like an interesting approach to keeping a Continental light.
