Based on the pictures I'm thinking Robbie may have a special anti-gravity chamber that radically speeds up the build time.

Hey guys, it does seem to be going pretty well. The engine work is mostly done on the first one so its close to done. Need to shoot the cowling and some odds and ends.

I got some fresh plastic up in the booth and wings ironed out and first coat of primer on them today. Tomorrow I'm hoping to sand out the first coat and get the second one shot.

Keith,
Are you primarially building this alone, I know you are using Builder assist wit Rob Petersen, but do you have any other assistance, some Gnomes working the night shift, Flash the super hero, or maybe Superman. I'm finding it hard to believe it can be built this fast. I'm really excited to see it painted by the end of the week. I have talked to the factory about builders assist, but maybe you need to start your own builders assist program.

Ed, in reference to your comment “Keith, what engine is going on this bird?”

I think he’s working like a man on a Personal Quest. I’m guessing he wants the plane done in less than 3 months. I am excited about seeing his progress. I keep looking for a new post.

Ed, I'm putting a stock 912 on initially. Sorry I've been slacking with the updates. The wings are primed and I'm hoping to shoot color tonight if I have time. I'm in between primer coats on the fuselage right now, one more coat so it can dry and then we'll yank it out of the booth and shoot color on the wings... If time allows.

I must admit the picture of the paint looks Great! I’m still betting you have a family of Gnomes helping out at night! :D I can’t imagine you are progressing as fast as you are. However, In talking with the Factory they did said a person with good mechanical skills can finish in 3 to 6 months. I am enjoying watching your progress, keep up the great work!

I have a dead Sprag Clutch on my plane, and I am thinking seriously of fixing it, and once I get it flying put it on Barnstormers for sale. Then see about getting a SuperSTOL.

I need to get my Bi-Annual this summer, I might drive to Plane Fun Aircraft to get it in a SuperSTOL or a Highlander so I can get a ride, and some T/O and Landing experience versus just a ride, before I make my decision.

Keith, Going through the posts again and just realized that you were putting primer on the frame. Can I assume that you did not have your frame powder coated? What system are you putting on your frame? I have watched so many guys buy their kit with powder coating and then grind various areas up to weld on tabs or other accessories. When you finish up the finish on your frame I would love to see some close up details of the finish. If I ever thought a Highlander or SS could be finished in 3 to 4 months I would have toughed it out not flying to build and I never would have purchased the CUB I am flying. Amazing. Can we assume that your build support has allowed you to do and not really ponder what is next, where, or how? Thanks. Joe B

Paul, do it man. Get some time in one, it's a terrific experience for sure. It might even push you over the edge and get you building one. I've heard nothing but good things about the guys at Plane Fun as far as instruction goes.

Joe, my frame is powder coated. It does look like I'm priming it I guess in some of the pictures. I'm putting a fair amount of glass in it so I didn't cover as much of the fuselage as some do.

Paul, I got my first ride in Valdez with Robbie and now I'm here at his place building my own airplane. I would highly recommend giving him a call, he'd love to fly you around and give you demo. You'll love it and Rob is a highly qualified guy both in the shop and in the air. His number is 252-414-0930 he'd love to talk to you about flying or building.
