Camping Destinations

Post by Rambler »

Hopefully this only shows up once. I typed it out and then lost it....

I am looking for good camping under the wing destinations. So far I have only taken the wife up once in the HIghlander since I completed it and we are looking to put it to good use camping this fall/winter/spring. I live just west of Columbia, SC but I would really like to see a good list of destinations across the US so we can plan future trips. So far I am planning High Valley in northern Georgia which is apparently very popular.

Any good recommendations or favorites out there?

Thanks, Dennis.

Johnson Creek is my favorite. 3U2

Northern Idaho has a ton of really good spots. Also southern Utah.

M34 Ky Dam State Park on the west end of Ky would be a great place. Building with baths and showers but no people or fuel. Walking distance to the lodge for food or a local restaurant Patty's will come pick you up. I have been there and stayed in the lodge several times in my Mooney.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far! That web site is a great resource! Perhaps this can be a good place for PIREPS for camping destinations in the future.

If you get down SW Florida way, there is a great camping spot at Arcadia (X06).
see: http://foaa.us/ for details.
The picture on that web page has my Highlander in the background.
A great bunch of guys at Friends of Arcadia Airport.
