I've been away for a while.
Its been a while since I last visited. I just broke 80 hours on my Highlander, and all is working out well. Only one regret - should have installed the larger fuel tanks. At 6'-2" and 260 pounds, I'm a big guy; just trying to save weight. I've got the 9 gallon tanks and a 3 gallon header tank. I usually fly at about 5200 RPM and burn 5.2 gph. That gives me about a 95 mpg cruise. Several things kept me grounded in the mountains of southwest Virginia this winter and spring, including lots of rain and wind (and wet fields). Trying to pick up the pace this summer and fall. Still haven't landed this plane on pavement. I'll fix that next week, then start making some cross countries.

Did you mean 95 mph cruise? If you get 95 mpg, I want whatever engine you are using!

Mileage is good, but not that good. I was talking with Troy yesterday. He told me he runs at 5500 rpm. With my prop setting, the extra 200 rpm only gets me another 2-3 mph.

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.
I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Ok.
I'm running a 912UL with Ivo 2 blade
ground adjustable & getting about the
same as you. I want to add some pitch
to see if I can get a better cruise speed.
My torque maxes out at about 4900 rpm.
I usually cruise at about 93 mph 5300 rpm.
FYI.
