Just maintenance advisory, rudder cable fraying

Post by rmullins »

In case some here are not on the Just mailing list, they emailed a service advisory to check the rudder cables for fraying. Some people have reported fraying was occurring at the front rudder cable guide closest to rudder pedals and the last cable guide at tail of plane

Thank you Rick!

I got myself added to the email list and also found that this potential problem is the only problem Just has needed to notify customers of. Hell of a good record if you ask me!

Here is what I did during the build more than 11 years ago. You can see a small bulge in one of the pictures on the back/rudder end of the anti-chafe tubing. This is the far rear cable guide. The far forward guide has a continuous tube that runs between the first and second guide so no activity could get into the cable. It seems to be working well.

If I had known I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself.
