Jury Strut to Wing Struts

Post by Tralika »

Anyone have an helpful hints on the Jury Strut Brackets that go between the Jury Struts and the Wing Struts? I've clamped them together and there doesn't seem to be any way to get them to line up without making the wing strut bend. The instructions do not say how to attach them. I planned to use an AN-3 bolt and nut. Do the tabs on the bracket capture the Jury Strut, one tab on each side of the Jury Strut? Do the two tabs go on one side of the Jury Strut? How are these parts supposed to work?

Also, the jury struts don't have to be perfectly perpendicular to the wing. As long as you put the mounting locations in the correct spot, the struts should be able to attach to the lift struts with some adjustment of the clamp location. They definitely should NOT cause a deflection of the lift struts.

Bruce,
Thanks for the reply. The photo was helpful and I think I have it figured out now. I'll drill it later today and see how it all works out.

Hi john,
Like I indicated. I'm in the same boat your are. I also wanted to know how to do what the manual didn't describe. A friend bought a Highlander from Billy. When it was home, I took a couple 100 pics. 1 picture is worth 10 hours of scratching my head!

Good luck!

I don't know why I always seem to find the most difficult way of doing things. When I was attaching the Jury Struts I bolted the top of the Jury Struts to the wing spars. Then I attached the bottom of the Jury Struts to the clamps on the wing struts. Doing it that way makes it really difficult to line up the holes in the two sides of the clamp with the hole on the bottom of the Jury Strut. I managed to get one Jury Strut installed that way. I struggled with the other Jury Strut for I don't know how long until it occurred to me that if I disconnected the Jury Strut from the top it would be easy to line up the bottom with the clamps. Lining up the top was easy even after it was connected at the bottom. I don't know how I could have missed something so obvious

I did it the same way..... never occurred to me to attach the bottom first.
