I do have some Makrolon ( scratch resistant) like they use on public busses , but it is much less flexible, and I think we have reached the maximum flexibility with the regular stuff.

I have zero feat of bird strike coming thru this lexan, too tough for that.
Plexi tho - that would worry me.

The bird strike issue makes me wonder just how strong a 3/32" piece of PC is going to be? On the F16 canopies they are a combination of PC and Acrylic. Typically the PC is only like /14" thick with a 1/2" thick layer of Acrylic. The PC will craze and turn yellow over time. We make a replacement one made in Acrylic for boats.

Stretched acrylic is supposed to be able to withstand a higher impact than regular acrylic too.

We coat our PC and Acrylic with a scratch "resistant" coating which enables the use of alcohol cleaners and such not to attach the material. We don't get scratches from cloths and such as well.

If at first you don't succeed, boil the hell out of the bird. That will make it nice and soft.

Finally got around to finishing the cowling to new boot cowl fit.

The new boot cowl is farther toward the front so there is a little overlap with the bottom cowl, meaning there is 3 layers of cowling in that corner. So I had to trim a corner out of the bottom cowl so that the top cowl would lay flush.

It sounds like this is only the case with the XL Titan cowling.

Shawn, did you do the fiberglass work on the Boot Cowling, or does Richard sell the revised Boot Cowl. I wish I had seen this before I had built, it is awesome.

No fiberglass work

He sends everything, very nice pieces!

They are not perfect for the XL yet, but he is working on that.

Even tho they arent quite perfected for the XL it wasnt hard to make it work.

The added visibility is definitely worth the effort.

I cant wait to fly it!

When do expect to be flying it? I’ve got a round trip ticket to Alaska I have to use by May 2020. I had to cancel my trip to Valdez this year. I’d love to come see it. I’m probably going to be going to the Great Alaskan Air Venture & Valdez in 2020.

Let me know the price. Thanks!
Bruce
Yes, this is the windshield and boot cowl that Steve has on YeeHaw 7. I talked to him tonight, and he says he has 30 hours on it, and it's working fine. He likes the improved visibility. and he'd do it again.

The Extreme boot cowl replaces the 914 boot cowl; there's also a fiberglass former and 4 aluminum parts. We'll be working out the kit price in the next few days.

Hey Richard, Would you please call me? I'm ready for my New Windshield Option.

Thanks,
Bruce
