Wheel Pants on a Nose Dragger...

Post by Johnny C! »

Hey!
Still working on #126. I have all of the controls & floor panels in the fuse.
Working on fuse mounted ribs right now.
I want to add wheel pants. Has anyone done this yet? Any input
would be appreciated. I'm just thinking ahead.

Great forum!

There are many things that happen really fast when you are
flying an airplane. There is no sense in rushing any of the others.

I would much rather be looking down at the runway, than up at it.

Thinking of doing the same

Hey Johnny,  Wondered what happened to you.  I am in Cleveland, GA just below you.  I am still working on my Escapade.  I am planning on putting wheel pants on mine also.  I have a guy who is super with fiberglass.  I have not got that far yet but will keep you informed as I get there.

Dennis,
I was at the factory today. I am not thrilled with
drilling and tapping any holes on the gear legs,
but when I looked at the Highlander inside ( I know
those gear legs & tires are different from ours),
the bolt for the suspension strut jumped out
at me. I'm going to look at attaching some pieces
of angle there to mount the pants to. I guess another
option is to weld some brackets to the legs, also.
I will consult with Troy for both of those options.
I don't think I'm ambitious enough to make the
pants myself. Jamie said he would show me which
ones from Aircraft Spruce that others have used,
but he was not there today. Someone also suggested
Wag Aero, so I'll check them out, too.
 Keep in touch!
