covering with rivetstiching

Post by scubarider »

Ok...have done the flaps and alierons {almost}.  This is how I did the alierons.
STEPS?
1) drilled out the 1/8 holes for rivets on spars
2) covered like normal
3) burned the holes
4) put the sticky tape down
5) burned the holes
6) put in rivets
7) covered with small glue tape
8) covered with larger glue tape
Anyone else doing it different?
Thanks,
Dennis

I'm thinking a drop or two of sealer in the holes would be good. Still researching it.

Have even considered drilling the 1/8 hole into the center of the rib web, catching the center 3 of its 5 plys, sealing the hole with spar varnish, then a drop of epoxy into the hole before seating the rivet. Researching and testing that way too.
