I'm here in Dearborn MI
I just got my planes and am getting ready to start building in about two more weeks. I have one big question I need help with. What is the real weight of a Afford-A-Plane ready to go ? Has any one ever built an Afford-A-Plane at the legal weight of 254 lbs? Ok so after I got everthing to gether to start building I'm hearing that in the real world the weight of the aircraft is closer to 300 lbs!! Has any of you who have built an Afford-A-Plane come under the 254 lbs limit?
Thank you

I came in at 380 pounds, but I deviated from the plans a lot.

The moderator/owner of the Affordaplane Yahoo Group (who is a staunch supporter of the design) says it comes in at slightly over 350 pounds when built stock.
And they still call it an "Ultralight" on their website.

HomebuiltHELP built the 103 flavor, and it was 259 pounds. Now you can add a Balistic Parachute and resolve that, or trim 5 lbs off. I saw 5 lbs of weight that could be taken off.
