Does anyone trailer a SuperSTOL?

Post by devanf34 »

I am wondering if anyone has been trailering their SuperSTOL. If you are or know someone that is, can you tell me what trailer they are using? From what I can tell, trailers aren't supposed to be wider than 8'5" and the width of the SuperSTOL with the wings folded is 8'6".

Thanks in advance for your response!

Standard trailer width on interstates is 8'-6" (and that doesn't include lights). On state roads, it varies by state, but most will let you go with the interstate dimension. You do have to conform to the laws of the state you're licensed in.

Go to the main Just Aircraft page of this forum and Search trailer. You'll get lots of information.

Probably not what you're looking for but... I don't trailer regularly, but I did trailer a SuperSTOL from AZ to CO when I moved. I have an aluminum deck over 24ft trailer. Worked beautifully, it was not enclosed and the weather was nice for the 12hr trip. The trailer weighs about 1700lbs and the plane and stuff was approx 1300lbs. Towed it with a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. No problems.
