Re: Molded Highlander windshields
Just finished up my own heat box for making the windshield, this comes just in time because the company which had the oven I was using will probably be out of business by year end.

That has to be a pretty big box, Steve. What are its dimensions?
Is this your own design, or did you follow plans?

The inside dims are 60"x30"x20", and not a light weight it was the mininum size I could make it for a windshield and still get air circulation. it also has a insulation layer between the metal interior box and the outer wood box. It's all my own design. it heats to 350 in about 10 minutes and the actrylic takes 7 minutes to get maluable for molding. I'll be making my first windshields out of it next weekend. I'm hoping to have the new pulley cover mold ready next week also.

Re: Molded Highlander windshields
Just an FYI, I just finished a batch of twelve clear molded windshields and I have 6 left for immediate shipment. I've also been able to find a light tined acrylic that is now available thru my supplier. As you can see in the picture, the tinted windshield against the white surface is fairly light and should work well during dusk or dawn hours. The tinted windshields are $360 due to the increase cost of tinted material.

Re: Molded Highlander windshields
I just want to know how you made the mold.
Also, I got one of your windshields, and though I have not actually installed it yet, it looks great. Well made piece.

Dane,
the mold is made of aluminum sheet covered with flannel, plywood base to set the shape of the boot cowl faring, a wood structure matching the fuselage windscreen frame, and 3 or 4 tries to get it correct

Thanks, I was having trouble wrapping my head around how you might have built it. The oven looks almost professional. I can only say almost because I have never seen a professional one.

Re: Molded Highlander windshields
Hey Guys,
Those of you who are having Just AC build your Highlanders and would like one of my windshields, I'm sending a couple of windshield to the factory next week. I can fit 3-4 windshields per box which would save on shipping and box costs. The going rate for Fedx ground to Just AC is $85 for a box of 4 windshields and hardware. The box and shipping cost would be split based on the number of windshields. If your are interested in this offer let me know ASAP. 425-417-7943 or stede52@comcast.net.

Re: Molded Highlander windshields
I've got space for 2 windshields going to Just Aircrft the first week of Feb. This will reduce your shipping and box cost by a total of $45. I will also have 2 tinted and two clear windshields available.

Re: Molded Highlander windshields
I picked up my windshield that Steve made, while I was at the factory. A very well made, quality unit ! This is going to save considerable time and effort when the time comes for it's installation. In my opinion it is worth the money.
