What size or kind of wing head stud cowl hardware comes on these birds. Had a couple leave need to replace and have a few on hand. Thanks Bruce

Re: Ok Newbie question again! Cowl hardware
Bruce,
I didn't get any cowl fasteners with my kit and I don't think they are normally supplied. Builders just do what they like for fasteners.
Most use 'quarter-turn' quick fasteners like the Camlock series - http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/h ... oc4002.php
They come in slotted, phillips, and winged types.
I used the 40S5-3 and -4 depending on the thickness of the cowls at that point.
Hope this helps,
Wes

Re: Ok Newbie question again! Cowl hardware
The best ones I've ground are from MilSpec products (http://www.milspecproducts.com/26002700C-Spec.htm) I'm using the #2800 stud because of it flush design and wide flange. The best part of the camloc assy is the adjustable depth receptacle # MS213 (http://www.milspecproducts.com/26002700 ... eceptacles) which fits all three series C studs, 2600/2700 & 2800. They come in stainless/plated steel or aluminum

Re: Ok Newbie question again! Cowl hardware
Steve,
When I spoke to them they recommended the 4000 series on the cowlings because of vibration. The 4000 series has a metal grommet that does not allow the cowl holes to wallow out. It seems like a little overkill to me. How has the 2800 series help up for you?
Thanks
Gary

Gary,
Absolutely not, 2800s are all you need and they work great. The 4000's are definitely overkill.
