SuperStol Baggage Door

Post by CanadianSheepHunter »

Cam locs from Skybolt. The folding one is stainless. The non folding one is aluminum and VERY light. I used their adjustable cam loc recepticles that are aluminum and VERY light.

I added 0.020” 6061 T6 saddles with stainless CCP 44 rivets thinking it will be stronger than hysol alone.

A sheet metal brake was used to make the 60 degree bend at top and bottom edge of the door.

The Olfa knife with P cutter tip(I think that’s the name) works great, just clamp the 0.032” sheet and straight edge firmly and keep scoring the aluminum with the knife 15-20 times with even pressure and once the knife pokes through you can bend the aluminum until it breaks off with ease.

The Skybolt adjustable cam loc recepticles are adjustable anytime, you use a pic to lift the C spring clamp then rotate the Center to the desired depth.

This pic weighed 1 lb 4oz. It includes the lighter non folding winged cam locks, the Skybolt aluminum adjustable recepticles, the 1/2” square tubing. Not included in weight is the hysol, rivets, aluminum angle for the recepticles, and weather stripping for bottom edge. So it would probably be close to 2 lbs all in.

This is how I made the hole pattern for the Skybolt aluminum adjustable cam loc recepticles. I drilled the Center hole only to the size of the Center hole in recepticle with a numbered drill bit, then drilled the two rivet holes, then AFTER this drilled the Center hole larger to allow the cam loc stud T to pass through.
